On 18 June, the BLRT Valukoda foundry poured its final iron casting, bringing to a close one of the longest chapters in the Group’s industrial history. This marked the end of its decades-long operation at the Kopli site, as the company prepares to begin production at its new state-of-the-art plant in Kohila, Rapla County.
Production Moves to a New Plant
The relocation is proceeding according to plan. On 17 April, the new plant reached another important milestone with the topping-out ceremony held in Kohila Rural Municipality. A Major Industrial Investment in the Region
BLRT Grupp and the construction company NOBE signed a construction contract for the new facility in October 2025. The project ranks among the largest and most technologically ambitious investments in the foundry industry in the Baltic states and Finland in recent decades. Its value is estimated at approximately €14 million.
The new facility will significantly increase the company’s production capacity, from approximately one million to three million kilograms of castings per year. Innovative technologies will also enable the production of heat-treated castings, broadening the company’s manufacturing capabilities and strengthening its competitiveness in international markets.
The new plant in Kohila will create around 70 new jobs and make an important contribution to the region’s industrial development.
